Occupying the first floor and garden level of a classic Brooklyn townhouse this duplex combines two different types of spaces. The soaring and classic first floor with original wood trim and wainscoting intact is now joined with a modern, sculptural stair to the lower-ceiling blank slate at the garden level. The ceiling was raised in the garden-level master suite, revealing exposed beams. A new wall featuring architectural reveals frame sections of the exposed brick wall behind. The master bath also matches the modern style at the garden level. The lower level is finally joined with the upper with faux gilt window trim & woodwork, a cheerily counterfeit salute to the formality of the floor above.
